Kamloops - Laughlin:   Departing Apr-12 Day-1     Kamloops to LaGrande, Oregon Pick ups in Kamloops, Vernon, Kelowna, Westbank, Penticton, Osoyoos etc. Today we will head on south-eastwards through scenic Washington and Oregon with an overnight stay in La Grande or Baker City, Oregon. Many scenic delights await you enroute to Oregon for your enjoyment. You can buy lunch in Moses Lake Washington where we will stay for approximately 1 hour. Day-2     Oregon to West Wendover, Nevada. We have a beautiful drive today through Oregon, Idaho and finally to our destination of Wendover, Nevada for two nights, staying at the Nugget Hotel Casino. You will recieve one free, all you can eat, buffet each day as well as a total of $14 USD in free slot play for your 2 night stay at the Nugget. The Nugget alone has nearly 1,000 slots as well as 49 table games, Starbucks and gift shop etc. Minutes before we enter Wendover, you will see the great salt lake which is mostly famous for the numerous land speed records which have been set there. Upon arrival, you will receive coupons for 3 more buffets. Day-5     .... free day in Laughlin. Now is the time to discover Laughlin at your leisure. Being right on the banks of the Colorado River, nothing is more relaxing than taking a stroll along Laughlins famous River Board Walk, adorned with Palm Trees and flowers, it is the life line that connects most of Laughlin's hotel/casinos to eachother. Don't forget to make your regular stops along the river to spot the many fish that always seem to show themselves along each and every stop. Day-6     .... free day in Laughlin. Minutes North of Laughlin is Davis Dam. North of the dam is Lake Mohave part of the Lake Mead National Recreation Area. The primary purpose of Davis Dam is to re-regulate Hoover Dam releases to meet downstream needs, including the annual water delivery of 1.56 million acre-feet to Mexico. Lake Mohave also provides recreation and habitat for fish and wildlife. Also the lake captures and delays the discharge of flash floods from side washes below Hoover Dam during the monsoon season. Davis Dam is closed to all public traffic, but Pedestrian and bicycle access to the dam is still allowed, however. Day-7     Oatman, Arizona side trip. We have a fun side trip planed today to Oatman, Arizona on historic Route-66, less than an hour from Laughlin. Oatman is a fun place to visit -- an authentic old western town with burros roaming the streets and gunfights staged on weekends. The burros are tame and can be hand fed. Clark Gable and Carol Lombard honeymooned at the Oatman Hotel March 18, 1939. Their honeymoon suite is still one of the major attractions that keeps the Oatman Hotel open. Gable returned here often to play poker with the local miners and enjoy the solitude of the desert. Please note that this side trip may be switched to another day depending how many buses are going. Your driver will know in advance. ...cont. There are plenty of shopping opportunities in Oatman. Many of the shopkeepers make their own products and obtain other rare and interesting items from far and near. There are many handmade leather goods, handmade Indian jewelry and excellent knives sold right from the wooden sidewalks running the length of the town. Oatman began about 90 years ago as a mining tent camp and quickly became a flourishing gold-mining center. In 1915, two miners struck a $10 million gold find, and within a year, the town's population grew to more than 3,500. Oatman was named in honor of Olive Oatman, who was kidnapped as a young girl by Mojave Indians and later rescued in 1857 near the current site of the town. Oatman was served by a narrow gauge rail line between 1903 and 1905 that ran 17 miles to the Colorado river near Needles, California. Day-8     Las Vegas day trip. We make a day trip to Las Vegas today dropping you off at the Luxor Hotel Casino as your start point to discover Las Vegas at your own leisure. Pick up will be late in the afternoon so that you can enjoy all that Las Vegas has to offer. The Luxor Hotel Casino ( the famous Pyramid structure) is located within a short walking distance to MGM Grande, Excalibur and New York New York hotel casinos. You can also take the new Double Decker strip bus up and down the strip to fully explore Vegas. Please note that this side trip may be switched to another day depending how many buses are going. Your driver will know in advance. Day-9     .... another free day in Laughlin Today is your last day in Laughlin. Not far up the road from your hotel is the Horizon Outlet Center which is well worth a visit. Many bargains to be had at Horizon, which is located in the heart of Laughlin on South Casino Drive, the same road your casino and all other casino/hotels in Laughlin are situated at. If you look across the River from your hotel, you are looking at Arizona and Bullhead City. The mighty Colorada River divides Nevada and Arizona at this section of the states. There are also Dinner cruises and crusies to Lake Havasu, Arizona available right at your doorstep on the river. ...cont. The "Boardwalk" connects the River Palms Resort with most of the other Laughlin Hotels that are also situated on the banks of the Colorado River. Many lush plants adorn many sections of the boardwalk and it is a true delight to just relaxingly stroll along it observing all the activities river side or just to enjoy the very scenic walk. It is one of the highlights of Laughlin, especially during the morning and evening hours where many choose to use it as their daily exercise routine whilst in Laughlin. Taking a stroll and sitting by the river rewards one with a certain amount of treasured peace that we all need in this sometimes hectic world. ...cont. Another fun thing to do during your Laughlin stay is to take the daily jet boat tour to Lake Havasu, Arizona which departs daily from the Golden Nugget Dock at 10:00am. The farther south one heads from Laughlin, the more peacefully and relaxing the Colorado becomes. You will pass through Topock, AZ. where the "Topock Gorge" begins and then on to Lake Havasu, AZ where there will be a layover at the famous London Bridge where you can stroll along the English Village and choose a variety of restaurants for lunch. The London Bridge was actually sold to the founder of Lake Havasu by the city of London. This tour arrives back in Laughlin at 4:30pm. Topock Gorge, Arizona Lake Havasu, Arizona Day-10     Laughlin to Wendover. We say farewell to Laughlin today and journey back to Wendover for another 2 nights stay at the Nugget Hotel Casino. Will make the usual breakfast and lunch stops along the way before arriving in Wendover. Day-11     .... free day in Wendover.      It's no secret that Hollywood filmmakers sometimes use the historic Wendover airfield to shoot movies like ConAir, or that Formula One racing teams regularly test-drive fast cars here. But six decades ago, the airfield concealed a huge secret. It was the site where the crew of the Enola Gay trained before the B-29 plane dropped Little Boy, the atomic bomb that devastated Hiroshima 60 years ago today and helped end World War II. Now under restoration effors, Wendover airfield also has an air museum well worth visiting and is only a few minutes by taxi from your hotel. Day-12     Wendover to Orgeon. This morning we make the scenic drive back to Oregon, passing through Idaho along the way for your last nights stay. We also pass through the very scenic Snake River Canyon in Idaho. Day-13     Oregon to Kamloops Our last leg of the journey, we will travel back to BC with a 30 minute stop at Duty Free Store at the Border for all your last minute shopping needs.
